I’ve been going through and removing ratings. I don’t feel like it adds much, and I’ve been getting the sense that they’re actually detracting from the larger picture. I’m about halfway through this task. I’ll have finished by the end of next month.
Series Reviews/Genre Pages Updates:
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Yes, I read these in like 2018. Yes, I only finished the series review this month. Woops
I got really sick at the beginning of the month and couldn’t write. By the time I got better I missed enough that it was easier to roll all my discussion posts over to February instead.

Advanced Review: The Vanished Birds by Simon Jimenez
Mini Review: Not what I expected but really good. Featuring a found family living in a world where everything costs.
Advanced Review: Our Child of the Stars by Stephen Cox
Mini Review: A beautiful story of a alien crash landing on Earth and the only survivor is a young boy. The government wants him, but not if a young couple has their way. I loved this book.
Advanced Review: Daughter from the Dark by Marina & Sergey Dyachenko, translated by Julia Meitov Hersey.
Mini Review: Music, violin playing, and a little girl prodigy from another world with a potentially murderous teddy bear. What more can you ask for? Nothing, because this is perfect.
Advanced Review: The Light Years by R.W.W. Greene
Mini Review: A young man goes to purchase the birth of his bride at the behest of his mother before waiting for her to grow up while he is traveling through space. Unfortunately I was disappointed because I had a lot of expectations going in and none of them were met.
Mini Review: I absolutely devoured this series. Human living amongst an alien race as a sort of diplomat and ends up becoming so much more than his government expects or even wants out of him. Political but action packed. Perfect.
Series: The Fowl Twins by Eoin Colfer: The Fowl Twins
Mini Review: So much better than I expected. I only wanted to learn what happened with Artemis, and found myself genuinely enjoying the story and the characters.
Mini Review: Not something I would have chosen for myself put i was amazed at how much I liked it. The world was amazing and I liked the characters.
Series: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter by Laurell K. Hamilton: Narcissus in Chains
Mini Review: I’ve reached the sexy bad portion of the series. Wow was it even worse than I even remembered. Read my reviews if you want to be entertained, not if you want to read the series.
Standalone: Provenance by Ann Leckie
Mini Review: Technically part of the Imperial Radch series but also standalone. A young woman in over her head, gets even more in over her head and everything works out in the end. Not my favourite.
Standalone: An Unkindness of Magicians by Kat Howard
Mini Review: Magic has a cost, and most aren’t paying it themselves. Sydney wants to change that and the fact that magic is fading can only help her. Or condemn. I loved this way more than I expected I would.
Standalone: Vita Nostra by Marina & Sergey Dyachenko, translated by Julia Meitov Hersey
Mini Review: Creepy weird magic school book full of mystery, what the fuck, and greatness. Amazing read.
Standalone: Contact by Carl Sagan
Mini Review: A signal comes from outer space, with directions to build a transportation device. Mostly like the movie but expanded and better.
